Resource Base

The Resource Base provision at Charborough Road caters for children who have speech, language and communication needs.

'Those children who attend the Resource Base benefit from exceptionally well planned and carefully structured learning which pares back each component skill to enable the learners to make good progress. They love their learning as it is pitched correctly for them, but there is clear expectation and challenge and they relish the chance to practice skills and learn'. We take children from all over the South Gloucestershire area who have a statement of special educational needs and who are allocated to us by the Local Authority, as we do not hold a waiting list ourselves.

There are 20 spaces available at the resource base for primary aged children and we have two classes: EYFS/KS1 and a KS2 class. The staff are trained to support children who have special educational needs and we also have a speech and language therapist who works at the resource base for 2 days a week.

We place a strong emphasis on nurture and inclusion for our pupils and where possible encourage successful integration with their partner mainstream class in order for them to develop social relationships and friendships with a wider group of children.

We value individual personalities, abilities and talents and aim to share children’s progress and successes with parents. Through working as a school and with the parents we aim to develop our pupils’ independence, self esteem and confidence, and for all of the school community to recognise and value the differences of others.
